Moran Speech Draws Record Crowd at Faneuil Hall

John B. Moran led a crowded meeting at Faneuil Hall where every inch of space was filled. Mayoralty candidates Thomas Riley and Timothy W. Coakley spoke to an enthusiastic audience, with Barry Sullivan, Joseph F. OConnell, and A. A. Pillar on the platform as Philip J. Doherty presided.

Mayors Chosen in 13 New England Cities

Thirteen New England cities held elections yesterday and twelve mayors were chosen. Holyoke Chicopee Worcester and Lynn voted Democratic while Worcester chose a Republican. License votes remained largely the same with a reduced negative tally.

Sortwell Wins Mayoral Vote in Cambridge No-License Held

Cambridge election returns show Alvin F. Sortwell re-elected mayor with a reduced total mayoral vote of 9494, down 1120 from last year. George A. Perkins defeated 2251 to 1776, while Sortwell’s net gain reached 47 percent, gaining in wards except Ward 1 where he lost 24 votes.
