Eliot School marks 200th anniversary in Boston hall

The Eliot School observed its 200th founding anniversary with a gathering in the assembly hall on North Bennett Street. Graduates old and new sang the Eliot School Boys tune as bells of the Old North Church played. A memorial tablet was placed in the hall of records for future masters and old boys.

Eliot School reunion honors alumni and speakers

A 2018 Eliot School event featured a letter from Principal John F. McGrath to the Eliot School principal that drew applause and laughter. Three old Eliot schoolboys John Scanga Philip Rubenstein and Dr Leen delivered addresses along with Superintendent Dr Franklin B. Dyer. Mayor John F Fitzgerald a graduate was absent due to illness and a resolution of regret was adopted.

Black Hander Kills Victim in East Side Shooting

In New York on December 12 an unidentified gunman shot and killed Gui seppe Cuccio, a wealthy retired contractor, after he received two Black Hand death threats. Cuccio died in the upper East Side street. his sons witnessed the attack and one pursued the killer while police search for the assailant.

Debutantes Attend Charity Fair and Cabaret for Rescue League

Hundreds of attendees at the annual fair and cabaret donated to the Animal Rescue League at Copley Plaza. Women shopped in the afternoon and morning while hundreds of young people joined a dance after the cabaret in the evening.

Ten debutantes served as waitresses including Virginia Pierce Helen Bradley Dorothy Fitch Sabra Batch elder Helen Atkins Eliza beth Clarke Gwyneth Browne Elizabeth Burrage Helen Garrett and Priscilla May. Tea poured by Mrs Tiuntington Smith Madame Ed Vina and others. A notable booth run by Mrs Howard Potter sold cakes from local homes. A 25 pound black cat from an alley rescue owned by Warren Leach featured at the fair. The Barnyard led by Mildred Bradley and C M Cobb sold votes for a cat charity benefiting a city children s home or hospital, with about 40 votes for the Children s Hospital recorded late.

Wife Seeks Divorce from Dorchester Husband

Mrs Isabel Addison of Barnstable filed a divorce libel in Suffolk Superior Court claiming her husband William H Addison deserted her after eight months of marriage. They wed August 12 1907 in Barnstable and he disappeared from home April 1 1908. his location is unknown. Addison worked as a brakeman for the New York New Haven Hartford railroad and Mrs Addison seeks her maiden name Isabel Dixon.

Pasteur Treatment Given to Nine Haverhill Schoolchildren

Nine Currier Grammar School pupils bitten by a mad dog received Pasteur treatment at the Board of Health today. The Municipal Council arranged a serum supply from New York by special order to avert possible serious consequences.
