United Fruit Co. Sells Bonds for New Fruit Steamers
The United Fruit Company sells to Lee, Higginson & Co. $1.5 million of 4 1 2 per cent sinking fund debentures dated Jan 1 1911 maturing July 1925 to fund 85 percent of three new refrigeration equipped fruit steamers being built in Belfast. The fleet will rise to 16 ships owned by Tropical Fruit Steamship Co. The bonds retire 10 percent annually from 1916 to 1924.
