Wall Street Mixed as Traders Debate Early 1907 Settlements

Active bidding and liquidation of securities sparked a professional tone at the opening. Traders cited Roosevelt’s non candidacy, short covering, and looming Jan 1 settlements as key forces, with rates and money markets showing volatility and banks cautious about renovación of time loans amid a $46 million surplus reserve deficit and over $100 million loans exceeding deposits. Net changes show Amalgamated down, Sugar slipping, and Utah Consolidated pressured by a quarterly dividend rumor, while the overall market remains dull and prone to further selling.
