Extra Session Sought After McKinley Inauguration

The Republican senatorial steering committee and Mark A. Hanna met to discuss North Carolina South Dakota Kentucky and Washington Senate elections and the chances of passing the Dingley bill. New England Trotting Association Moves to End Ringing

The New England Trotting Horse Breeders Association held its annual meeting at the American House. A resolution to prevent ringing and urge adoption by other tracks was unanimously passed, with a committee to draft a bill making ring cheating a criminal offense. Officers were elected and a slate of directors. The secretary reported $179,109.02 spent on grounds and Readville track, with plans for a mortgage. Readville events showed profits: grand circuit $12,258.84 and annual meeting $1,724.14.

Fire slight at Massachusetts Clothing Co building

A small blaze occurred yesterday morning at about 10 o'clock at the Massachusetts Clothing Company on 90 Hanover Street. The fire originated from detective electric light wires on the outside of the building. It looked serious at first but caused no appreciable damage.

Meyers Team of Cambridge Sets New Candle Pin Mark

Meyers team of Cambridge extended its lead in the candle pin league with an eighth straight win. All five Meyers bowlers hit 250 or more, Meyers and Delano each topping 100 in a string, and the club totaling 1248 with sixteen spares. Columbia showed in the first string as Bynner scored a notable strike. The former record was 1326 by the St. James team.

The Massachusetts Division League of American Wheelmen held its largest quarterly meeting at Young's, electing delegates to the Albany national assembly and hearing a hint from Henry W. Robinson that professional cyclists may gain full league admission. Delegates were listed with votes. J. J.
