Arthur Griffith, head of the Irish delegation, says he signed the treaty with Great Britain and believes it will found peace and friendship. The Dail cabinet remains split over accepting the London settlement as Eamon de Valera leads the extremists against the terms.
In Madison Wisconsin Governor Blaine writes Postmaster General Hays condemning armed marine guards on mail trains and calls for the return of guard M M Hangen to Wisconsin for trial after the Lambrecht shooting. He warns of a federal military regime over citizens and innocent people being shot.
In Boston, Judge Brown presides over a divorce trial of Jacob A. Brack and Emmy A. Brack of Wollaston. Bridgeport report that S-48 crew and officers were rescued by tug Socony 28 after 11 hours battling chlorine fumes from the storage battery room and heavy seas. Captain Eugene Olsen led the rescue. The crew had abandoned all hope before rescue.

In New Bedford on Dec 9 jurors found John Dies, Benjamin Gomes, and Joseph Andrews guilty of criminal assault against Miss Gertrude Butler, dated for the August 15 evening incident.
The case was given to the jury at 2 5 yesterday afternoon and at 10 o'clock they returned to hear again the testimony of two witnesses. These were read to them and they again retired. It is understood the three prisoners will be sentenced Tuesday at Barnstable. Judge Lummus directed the jurors not to discuss the matter.
Elmer Gardner a public chauffeur from Duxbury was fatally shot in the Kingston Inn garage and died at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. John Roland former Kingston Inn proprietor and James W. Wichman of Duxbury are detained as investigators pursue a suspected holdup with $2600 allegedly taken from Roland’s pockets.
Miss Lillian Eblan aged 18 disappeared from the home of her guardian Mrs Mammett on Beate street Brookline Wednesday morning and has not been heard from since. She had lived there only two days and left with a young friend she met en route from the Hammett home. The reason is unknown but she may be unhappy with her surroundings. Fabian formerly lived with her aunt Mrs Fatima Corey of Nassau street. Her father Michael C Eblan resides at 10 Olive Place North End.
