In London a United News dispatch reports Sinn Fein faces a split with two rival factions forming within the Dail Eireann cabinet. Arthur Griffith now leads a conservative faction opposing Eamon de Valera as party leaders risk political eclipse in the looming struggle.
Charles Toscar, 59, was shot to death in the rear of his home at 21 Charter Street North End about 10 PM. Police found a .32 revolver hidden under a wine keg and detained his wife as a material witness as they investigated a quarrel preceding the ambush style shooting.
Tom Slaughter, a long time desperado, is killed in Saline county hills after fleeing prison with accomplices. A white pursuer shot him from behind. one escaped prisoner dies nearby and three other Black inmates are in custody. Sheriff J J Crow confirms the deaths and captures.

Thomas Norton a 17 year old captain of the Boston College High School swimming club of Malden saved 9 year old Wendell Munn son of Carlos J. Munn from drowning in icy depths yesterday afternoon. Norton lives at 30 Spring Street Malden and is noted as a prominent athlete.
A boy and three companions tested thin ice at a Riverside clay pit when one fell through. Norton, returning from school, calmly broke the ice, reached the boy, pulled him to shore, and with Dr Barrett’s pulmotor revived him. The rescued child is reported to recover at home.

His three year old playmate watching from shore failed to sound alarm. Grandfather Peter Ross found the body afloat on a plank with a stick hooked into clothing and pulled him to shore. A pulmotor used by police failed to revive him.
