Marezzo Accused as Stowaway at Hoosac Docks

Giuseppe Marezzo suspected as a stowaway was stopped at the Hoosac docks while trying to leave the pier shed from the White Star liner Cretic. Customs guards Horvath and St. Clair questioned him in Italian. he could not prove he belonged ashore. Lieutenant Leahy proposed turning Marezzo over to the Cretic's chief officer to await a hearing before immigration officials.

Explosion Kills Six at Gibbstown Gelatine Plant

Six men died and two were injured in a blast at the Repaune Chemical Company gelatine mixing house in Gibbstown New Jersey. The dead include foreman Harry Horner and workers Howard Clark Herbert Mullen from Paulsboro. Seven hundred pounds of powder exploded and the building was wrecked. The company is a Du Pont Powder subsidiary and the blast was felt across southern New Jersey.

Auto Thief Convicted In Medford Police Case

John Graham of Boston was fined 125 in Malden District Court by Judge Bruce after Medford police arrested him Sunday in a stolen car. He was jailed for nonpayment. Police believe he is part of a band of auto thieves. Vehicle belonged to Roscoe B. Carter of Needham.

Springfield dedicates new municipal group in gala event

The December dedication attracted thousands for the auditorium exercises and a city hall exhibition. Former President William H. Taft spoke on municipal government before 11 500 attendees.
