Massachusetts Cities Vote in 15 Municipal Elections
Fifteen Massachusetts cities held annual elections for mayor with little voter stir. Eleven incumbents sought re election and nine won. notable defeats were W H MacInnes of Pittsfield and W H Clifford of Brockton. New mayors included Thomas J Higgins Fall River Isaac Paten Gloucester and John J White Holyoke. Taunton did not elect a mayor. Gloucester and Haverhill switched to no license and license respectively. Democratic gains occurred in Northampton Holyoke Pittsfield Marlboro with Republicans prevailing otherwise.
