In Brockton on December 5, Perley G. Ashley was arrested for assault with intent to kill after Leroy Thorpe, wounded in a Nov. 16 hunting trip shooting near Avon station, was believed fatally injured but later survived. Ashley says Thorpe aimed a gun at him and he unintentionally fired.

Tragic gas attempt by 22 year old Katie Shane at Chambers Street
Katie Shane a 22 year old from St John New Brunswick rooming at 49 Chambers Street attempted suicide by gas last night. Landlady Mrs McElroy detected the odor, unlocked the door, found the girl unconscious and partly clothed. She was saved by Dr Thomas J Lawler and taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where she was yet out of danger. A Malden man named John Jackson claiming to be a friend was questioned by police at Station 3 before being released.
