Fish Trust Good Again in Federal Court Testimony
Maurice P Shaw secretary and treasurer of the New England Fish Exchange testified in a federal court hearing on a government bid to dissolve an alleged fish trade cartel. He described past harbor practices to approach incoming schooner captains, halted in 1884 and resumed in 1914 before ceasing. John C Wheeler of Booth Fisheries testified most fish landings occurred at the fish pier, not the packet pier, and Italian dorymen supplied some landings. Wheeler said Booth Fisheries sold the business to Bay State Fishing Company in 1916.
