Big Battle Raging in Mexican Oil Fields

A 24 hour battle near Tula forty miles below Victoria Tamaulipas in the region of important Mexican oil fields caused a Federal loss of 220 according to a Constitutionalist report received at Matamoras from General Aguilar commander in chief in that district. The Constitutionalists loss was not stated. Later advices from Victoria said fighting had resumed.

Collier to Carry Men and Fuel to Mexico

Norfolk dispatch reports the collier Nereus ordered to sail for Vera Cruz to join the American fleet. She will transport enlisted men from the St Helena Training Station and carry coal and supplies. Expected departure is by December 15.

Molasses Rock to Be Destroyed in Medford Landmark

Medford's oldest landmark Molasses Rock on McCormack Heights near Fellsway and Paris Street will be removed to make way for new apartment homes. Framingham December 4 Michael Sorreiro 25 a Framingham Shoe Company employee died of suffocation and burns from a fire at his Waverly street boarding house. He lit a charcoal cooking dish before bed. it toppled and ignited a rug as influence of smoke and flames led to his death.

Elmer Cleveland 14 and Charles E. Davis 15 of Reading confessed to breaking into John Hanley’s linen room near the Reading-Wakefield line. Seized from their clothing were 7 dollars in pennies, cigarettes, cigars, sardines, custard pies, and eggs. They were taken into police custody and to be arraigned in Juvenile Court at Woburn.

Grafton Cushing chairman of the House defended the new child labor law at St Pauls Cathedral noon service. He said the law does not forbid under eighteen work but limits work to eight hours a day and would cause temporary hardship as families adjust.

Mrs. William Bullard of 40 Kenwood Street Dorchester is recovering at home from injuries and nervous shock after an electric car collision at Washington and Bowdoin streets yesterday. An inbound Meeting House Hill car struck but slowed enough to prevent a major wreck. Dr A T Davidson treated Mrs Bullard and drove her home. Several other passengers suffered minor injuries. The cars were righted and damage totaled about $50.

Fritz Ruelke aged 42 of 7 Dubuque street Manchester New Hampshire killed himself this morning with a .32 caliber revolver in the right temple. Illness for three years and financial difficulties given as the cause.

Boston Museum of Fine Arts Opens Prints Exhibit Series

The MFA Boston began a three part show of recent print department acquisitions. Curator Rob Roy Carrington organized three month long exhibitions at roughly weekly intervals. Key pieces include a major gift from Francis Bullard and works from Keppel Sachs Curtis Parker among others. Notable artists featured include Whistler Haden Buhot Braque Mond Van Dyck and Daubigny.
