Dakota Dan Russell, claimant to a son's share of the Russell estate, did not attend the funeral of William C Russell at Melrose yesterday. The man who had called Russell his brother had fought for four years over the estate and changed his mind about attending the burial at Wyoming Cemetery.

Mayor Fitzgerald voiced the goal to wipe out cheap lodging houses in Boston and replace them with modern, safe sleeping quarters under city or state oversight. He announced his findings after inspecting seven large lodgings, expressing shock at conditions and sharply criticizing owners.
In Bingham Utah on December 3 Ralph Lopez, accused of killing six men, remained inside the Utah Apex mine as poisonous gases from smudges continued to fill the upper workings. Rescue efforts doubtfully possible while fumes linger, with some speculating he may have found an air pocket or left via an unguarded exit.
Angelo Flamino, 44, a worker at the New England Gas & Coke Company Everett plant, died of suffocation yesterday afternoon around 5 o'clock after falling into a coal chute pocket. Four tons of bituminous coal buried him. he was trapped for some time before fellow workers rescued him and the pulmator failed to save him.
At the plant a worker named Flamino slipped into a 60 foot coal pocket shaft while with Michael Monocko. A coal car released four tons of bituminous coal onto him. He was recovered after an hour, unconscious, with fellow workers aiding the search.
