New York Stocks Rise in Local Market Driven by Aggressive Trading
The Dec 4 market advance pushed prices higher with a broad uplift across issues. New York orders to buy Steel common, Allied with gains in Shea Machinery Granby and Massachusetts Electric, helped the move. Shoe Machinery led, rising from 47 to 31 and closing strong. Court actions delaying Old Dominion dividends and a New Haven drive capped some optimism, while Edison rights Alaska Gold and Boston & Maine loan records supported the session. The close showed a firm tone.
