English invasion deemed easy sparks naval pill debate

Along the Water Front Hopes for Steady Trade Amid Storms

New Steamship James Whitney Arrives in Boston

The Metropolitan line adds the James Whitney from New York to its fleet. On its first trip the vessel sits 17 feet in the water with a maximum draft of 22 feet. Claimed as the cosliest and best freight steamer yet sent to this port, it rivals coasting passenger vessels in electricity, officers’ quarters, speed, and other modern improvements.

New England Leaves Charlestown For Queenstown With Passengers

The Dominion liner New England under Captain James sails from Charlestown at 9:40 am bound for Queenstown and Limerick with heavy cargo and passengers.
