Denunciation of New Labor Body Sparks Mounting Rift

The Boston labor scene widened its split as the Labor Defence Council denounced a new group patterned after the Trade Union Educational League. The Boston Central Labor Union warned delegates in a Wells Memorial Building meeting that persistent membership in the new body would label them secessionists and revoke their CLU delegate status.

Fiery meeting brands leadership as autocratic and disruptive

A central meeting sparked three hours of bitter debate over findings from the executive board. Supporters claim the new organization aims to disrupt bona fide unions while critics call the board autocratic and high handed. A stenographer’s presence and a pointed remark by Vice President Johnson highlight tensions. The discussion echoes across the labor movement in Boston amid references to William Z. Foster and the Trade Union Educational League.
