They both have lived in the city all their lives and had not met since the loan.
The Treasury withdraws objections to gold coin gifts for Christmas and invites revival of the practice. Acting Governor Platt of the Federal Reserve Board said the Treasury now favors releasing gold for such purposes and the Reserve Boards were informed today.

Boston will lose a top firefighter next Friday as District Chief Fitzgerald M O LALOR of the East Boston division retires by his own request after 28.5 years in service at age 55 with a pension of 1730 dollars yearly. He joined in 1888, rose to captain in 1906, led engine 22, headed the seventh division, and was named district chief in 1920 for East Boston.
