Democratic city committee holds Friday meeting with withdrawals

Parole wrecked after collision off Canso with Cedar Grove

The schooner Parole bound for St John from Caledonia was struck twice by the steamer Liddesdale near Canso, taking on a heavy list and sinking. Thirteen aboard were rescued today, while five remain missing. The Cedar Grove crew reported a woman aboard and a chaotic rescue. Lloyd's agent arrived to assess the wreck.
