Seventh in the Series Band Concert At Hanover and Portland

Enthusiasm grows for Friday evening Band Concerts by Massachusetts Clothing Company My Clothier led by Mr Wolf. Tonight Tom Henry's Military Band, 20 pieces, performs from 7:30 pm with a detailed program including Cuban Liberty William Tell and La Paloma selections at their Hanover and Portland streets building.

Somerville City Fathers Wrangling Over Architects

Somerville officials clashed over public school plans at Webster avenue and Brush street with Alderman Wright accusing the process of being closed and favoring one architect. The plans by Sargent were adopted after a recess, and a low bid from Foster Ellingworth Harvey for heating City Hall was approved. The lower chamber discussed restraining Charles W. Hinkley from using a Melrose street lot for a melting and rendering shop, referred to the city solicitor.

Malpractice charged against local doctor and two others

Dr Edward W Gahan 33 was arrested on a warrant alleging criminal operation on Aug 16 at his Tremont Street office. Ed ward Walsh 29 and Mary Galligan 34 were charged as accessories before the fact. A second malpractice case involves a woman using the name Mabel Ross 23 seeking shelter at Boston hospitals.

Emperors Kiss in Vienna Arrival Greeting

The Czar and Czarina arrived in Vienna at 10 20 this morning at the Northern terminus and were greeted by Emperor Francis Joseph Empress Elizabeth and all archdukes and archduchesses. The two emperors kissed each other on both cheeks the empresses did likewise and then the emperors kissed the hands of the empresses.

Bombardment of Zanzibar City Ends in Ruins and Flight

British warships bombarded Zanzibar city near the Sultan’s palace and customs house, reducing buildings to ashes. Said Kalid proclaimed himself sultan, gathered about 2500 troops, including 900 Askaris, provoking Britain to demand surrender by nine. When defiant, the bombardment intensified as British forces took control and ultimatum enforcement followed.
