Agreement Reaches World’s Largest Drydock At Boston

A final agreement to build one of the largest drydocks in the world at South Boston was reached after talks among P A S Franklin of the International Mercantile Marine Company W G Sickle of the Hamburg American line and Port of Boston directors. Steamship firms will pay 50000 annually for its use and the dock will be open to any subscribing steamship company, says Chairman Bancroft.

South Boston Dock Project Aims to Handle 25000-ton Vessels

The proposed drydock at the South Boston shore will cost over 3 million dollars and span 1200 by 150 feet with a depth of 35 feet at low tide and 45 feet at high water. It will accommodate ships of 25 000 tons and larger and aim to boost port attractiveness and regional commerce.

Brockton Firm to Use Union Stamp

Brockton August 21 The joint shoe council representing 13 local unions has completed arrangements with the F F Field Company for the adoption of the union stamp and arbitration agreement of the Boot and Shoe Workers Union. The company will apply the union stamp to its No 1 factory in Brockton and Factory B, the latter being returned from Providence. Third grade men s shoes will be manufactured under price lists already arranged in Factory B.

Year sentence for assault on officer in Roxbury Court

Alfred B. Cargill aged 3? was sentenced to one year in the House of Correction by Judge Hayden in Roxbury District Court after being charged with assault on Francis Higgins a 74 year old special officer for the Boston Elevated Railroad. He appealed and was held in $1000. Cargill was also arraigned on drunkenness.
