Washington Detective Links Mint to Gold Theft Profits

A detective argues the United States mint enables theft of gold and silver by accepting precious metal over $100 without inquiry. Officials could aid by requiring certificates for large sales, but custody remains with express companies. The evil grows and Congress should act. mint officials acknowledge the issue.
