Secret conference with guards after Washington orders
Special orders from Washington require secrecy about a conference at the Northeastern Departmental headquarters between Major-General Edwards and Massachusetts National Guard officers. The meeting was in camera, lasting about an hour, with strict bids to newspapers to print nothing. Army recruiting is brisk with 40 new hires, aviation candidates rising, and New England applicants reaching 1000 seeking pilot and lieutenant roles.
