Naval Brigade Finds Heavy Clothing Comfortable at Fort Rodman Camp

Outpost duty at Fort Rodman Camp New Bedford August 18 reports routine drills amid a cool easterly wind. The first battalion under Lt Cmdr Buffington practiced boat and field artillery drills while the second battalion trained on the parade ground. Guards were strict under Lt Bridgman and Lt Dyer as Governor Crane planned Thursday visit.

Cuban teachers prepare to sail from Boston for Havana

Undecided whether the 1337 Cuban teachers will sail tomorrow night or Thursday morning from Boston with 30 guides and chaperones, to travel in three divisions aided by American and Cuban guides. Cuban teachers entertained by the Ayer Company visit

Cuban educators touring Massachusetts cities were hosted by the J. C. Ayer Company in Lowell and Cambridge. They viewed Hamilton Print Works and Lowell Manufacturing Company, received Spanish souvenirs, and observed American industry. Spectators cheered for the Ayer Company, Manager Rose, and the United States on their return train.

Workers Seek Jobs in San Juan Protest March

More than a hundred laborers with families reached San Juan after a two day nonfood march from San Lorenzo. Carrying banners and an American flag they urged Acting Governor Hunt to open a road between Caguas and Lorenzo to create jobs. Hunt promised government relief and ordered immediate road work with employment for residents of the district. Officials say the area has been badly neglected with no active projects for some time.
