CHICAGO Aug. 9 Zimmerman was beaten from scratch for the first time at the L A W meet as John gs. Johnson of Minneapolis, aided by Kniseley and Tuttle, won the five mile national championship by a clear open length. Kniseley set a record pace, finishing the fourth mile in 10 13. Kniseley first led, then Githens and Tuttle joined, Johnson surged from the rear and claimed victory. Zimmerman earlier had run no three races today.
