The ex-president Benjamin Harrison visits Beverly Massachusetts amid a Cape May to Beverly swing. A local ovation greets Harrison on a Centre street procession as he attends Baby McKee and Baby McKee’s sister visit at the McKee home.
The schooner Acacia under Captain Golding from Port Johnson bound for St John with 167 tons coal was struck by a large unknown steamer six miles east-southeast of Chatham last night. The bow gear tore away and the vessel sank in about forty minutes. the crew were rescued by Velma and landed at Vineyard Haven. The colliding ship did not aid, and the Acacia now lies in ten fathoms as a navigation hazard.

An unidentified man, about 22 years old, was fatally struck by a freight train in the Boston and Maine yard near the Fitchburg railroad just before 11 last night. He appeared intoxicated and was walking on the tracks when hit. His mangled body was taken to the North Grove street morgue. he wore dark clothes, a white check shirt, brown stockings, and congress shoes.
John Lantry twelve, son of the late John B Lantry of Boston, and Charles Lintsky twenty three of 35 Rand square Roxbury, were drowned yesterday in the lake at Jeffersonville New Hampshire where they were vacationing. Lantry's body was recovered. Lantry lived on Dale street Highland district. Lintsky, a civil engineer, worked in the Boston city engineer's office.
Milford Aug 10 The second day of races produced close finishes with outsiders defeating favorites. In the 2:37 pace George K. won with Junior second and Lady Westmont third. best time 2:28 3-4. In the 2.32 pace G Q Taylor took first, Milk math pacans Ironwood placed third. best time not finished in readable text.
Four year old Joseph H. Kelly fell from a four story window in Brooks's House on Harrison street yesterday at 4 50 pm. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Cambridge Hospital where he is expected to recover.
Maud Leslie aged 27 living at 29 Lynde Street was arrested yesterday by Division 2 for larceny of two gold rings valued at 13.50 from Wilson Bros located at 14 and 15 Tremont Row.
Thomas Radcliff of Lisbon Indiana on a visit to the Hub dozes by a stringpiece at Pearl Street wharf. He rolls into ten feet of water and is rescued by Captain Smith and crew of the schooner Annie Green, then turned over to a court officer. The piece also notes the McKee family portrait and former President Harrison visiting Cape May with grandchildren, planning to Cape May and Indianapolis for Grand Army events.
John B Wright of Allston died at his home on Wednesday evening at age 78 after four years of poor health. Paralysis of the brain was the direct cause. He leaves a widow, one son, and a daughter.
In Newport Aug 10 the Vigilant from City Island beat the Jubilee by about a minute amid shifting winds. Vigilant finished 5 01 41 to 6 02 52, claiming a close victory after a tactical run to Dumplings. Constellation, Lasca and Alicea led in their classes as other big cup entrants prepared for the October races.
W S S Keene a leading Lynn shoe maker and city benefactor walked into the sea at Nahant after a day trip from Boston. He left life at Ocean Street residence and his death is ruled drowning with uncertain motive possibly mental strain. He was born June 10 1848 and left a widow, two sons, and a legacy of civic contributions.
Five policy writers were fined 100 each by Judge Adams in Municipal Criminal Court for alleged policy activity. The named defendants Tilman Youn Shawmut avenue James ll Carver street Frank Pierce Harrison avenue Fred McCarthy Harvard street and Albert D. Smith Harvard street appealed after police raids on policy shops. Police raids at Pleasant street Kirkland street Harrison avenue and Carver street yielded seized paraphernalia and arrests of several individuals.
Hop Yick Lung, Harrison avenue Chinaman, held in 320 000 for examination on Aug 17 by Judge Adams in Municipal Criminal Court yesterday. Major B J Jones appeared as counsel for the defendant.
