Massachusetts and Rhode Island police hunt a burglar who twice tried to break into Captain Herbert O Dunn U S N premises near Westerly. Each attempt was foiled by Dr Daisy M Dunn of Boston, who acted bravely to stop the intruder.

Boston woman and Dr Dunn fire on fleeing man near rock

A Boston woman traveling with her cousin Captain Dunn saw a man flee a house and, after flashing a search light, fired five shots from a revolver at him near a flat rock. Blood drops were later found on the rock. Police received the call at 9:30 p m and note a prior incident with similar signs.

Patrolman Goodwin Attacked During Arrest Near East Boston

Patrolman Goodwin of East Boston was assaulted while arresting David Melandy 3 years old at Jeffries and Everett streets. Melandy broke free, toppled the officer, and bystanders aided the beating before others arrived. the officer sustained a broken helmet and injuries to head and body.

Three Die As Skiff Capsizes on Connecticut River

Three Amherst Power Company employees drowned when a skiff with seven men capsized on the Connecticut River about two miles above Springfield. One other passenger was reported in critical condition at a local hospital.

A fire destroyed the Salem Electric Lighting Company plant, ending in the loss of generators engines dynamos and the switchboard. Supreme Judicial Court Finds Strikes Funds Mingled

In a supplemental report filed in the clerk's office Winfield S. Slocum finds that Joseph Shaheen Joseph A. Bedard and William Trautman are personally responsible for the expenditure of eighteen thousand six hundred forty six 86 dollars of funds received by them as Lawrence strike committee members. The master was directed to determine portions mingled and assign responsibility. Slocum reports all money from various sources was merged into one fund with Bedard Shaheen Yates and Trautman responsible for the mingling.

Chelsea Man Charged With Raising Check

Chelsea man HU Barres aged 44 of 86 Fourth Street was arrested by Inspector Gaillac on a warrant alleging he raised a check from 2 dollars to 200 dollars last July. He was released on bail and will be brought before Chelsea Court this morning.
