A blaze at Siegel and Co stables in the South End erupts with hot air explosions showering animals and firefighters. Four fires ignite simultaneously, keeping every city company on alert as the hay loft catches fire and the blaze spreads through the structure.
Four fires in Boston last night drew the city’s entire fire force to the Siegel company stable and warehouse at Dedham and Albany streets and spread to Charlestown and other locations. Police estimate losses exceed $50,000 with causes unknown. Fire outbreaks occurred between 6:47 and 9 p m affecting buildings at 85 Medford street rear, 51 Revere street tenement, and 488A Tremont street market.
The 31st annual Knights of Columbus convention adjourned Yesterday afternoon. The final function, a grand ball for delegates and their wives, capped a week described as the body’s greatest gathering, hosted at the Hotel Somerset.

Police say the case may involve thousands of dollars and could span multiple institutions. Bank officials were present during questioning and investigations extend to other banks.
In dense fog the Nantasket with hundreds aboard struck a sandbar at Gallup's Island Point, bow raised ten feet. The Old Colony tried to tow. after an hour she could not move the Nantasket until the tide rose, causing a one hour twenty minute Boston delay. No water in the hold and no injuries reported.
