Walter Herberg twenty nine or thirty of Waverley Hospital drowned from a canoe in Lake Guannapowitt Wakefield. George Gray Jr seventeen of South Quincy drowned in Quincy reservoir Braintree. Frank Dabut of New Bedford drowned in Wamsutta Pond. Edward Dunphy twenty six of Houghton Square Lynn drowned from a motor boat off Nixs Mate.
Four people died by drowning near Boston yesterday with several others rescued. The incidents occurred at Wakefield Braintree New Bedford and Boston harbor, with thrilling rescues including a Roxbury man saving an unconscious bather at the L Street baths during a guard's temporary absence. The tally rises to eleven drownings in 48 hours including seven in East Freetown.

Lynn resident Ledger Lemieux died after being struck by an automobile owned by Arthur H. Stiles while stepping from an electric car on Broadway. Stiles, who had just bought the car, was being instructed and was held on a manslaughter charge in $3000 bail as the case moved toward court.

Malone, Assistant Secretary of State, left the city for Washington after several days here interviewing Democratic leaders on the state situation.
Mr Malone met with President Wilson to review Massachusetts election prospects and the tariff issue. Wilson aims to back Democrat Walsh and the state ticket with national leaders and a possible big Boston speech.
Augusto B. Leguia former Peruvian president was released from the penitentiary. He planned to travel to Europe for health reasons. His son Augusto Jr. was also freed after their July 26 arrest following a mob attack on the Leguia home in which two men died and six were wounded.
In Mexico City about 1000 students and laborers paraded to show support for Huerta against US mediation. Huerta reviewed the march from the palace balcony with no disorder reported. John Lind, US president’s envoy, arrived with police guarding the route to the consulate after an all day trip from Vera Cruz.
John Lind arrives in Mexico City as Wilson administration officials say no new steps will be taken until Lind reviews the general situation. Lind will report to Charge OShaughnessy so U S notes to Huerta remain aligned with prior policy. Senator Bacon adds details on the Fernandez policy.
In London on August 10 Sylvia Pankhurst led a third attempt by suffragettes to storm Prime Minister Asquiths Downing Street residence. Police formed a cordon across Whitehall and battled the crowd with clubs while mounted riders charged women and children. Pankhurst was reportedly badly hurt in the melee.
A daring jewelry robbery at "Coronest" the summer home of Mrs. M. H. Forrest in Kennebunkport Me. yielded diamonds valued over 9000 dollars. Thieves left no clue and police suspect a New England gang after a prior jewel disappearance of about 300000 from Narragansett Pier.
About 3 this morning burglars forced a cellar bulkhead to enter the summer cottage. Mrs. Forrest slept through the intrusion while intruders searched her bureau and writing desk but left most items, taking gold watches and non diamond pieces. Police are baffled and residents fear repeats of recent breaks.
A mass meeting under the Freer Speech Defence Committee demanded the conditional release of George Lansbury, a former Socialist MP sentenced in July to three months for inflammatory speeches and released August 2 under the cat and mouse act while on hunger strike. Miss Pankhurst declined an invitation to speak at the meeting.
