Athletic novelty: Games by electric light in Gloucester
The Gloucester Athletic Club plans night events on their Bird street oval early in October. Athletes can travel by a special Boston departure, with a late return train around 11 p.m. President Flaherty champions the idea after hearing of electric lighting at Charlesbank. Attendance could be strong, offering working people a chance to view events, though hammer throwing and other field events may be omitted. Similar electric-light games at Hopkinton drew 5008 attendees at peak.
