James A. Blanchard of New York, chairman of the national Republican league sub executive committee, met Burrato officials to finalize plans for the September 1 convention. He predicts the event will be the greatest yet with over a thousand delegates, alternates, and many visitors. He notes it is unsettled whether the President will attend and calls the statewide campaign outlook highly favorable.
The Democratic State central committee decided not to begin campaigning in Illinois until September while Republicans plan a August 18 rally in Springfield led by Whitelaw Reid and Congressman Burrows. The New City from St John reports sighting a growing field of icebergs off the coast after leaving Taltal and Valparaiso. On June 20 two immense islands were seen, one about 900 feet high. By nightfall thirteen more were visible, and at daylight nineteen total stood masthead. An iceberg described as ten miles long and 150 feet high lay with drift oriented east to west, spanning sixty miles north to south.
In Fall River a late night conference with Mayor Coughlin Chief Hilliard Medical Examiner Dolan Detective Seaver and District Attorney Knowlton ends with signs that an inquest date is set. Papers signed that night hint at a forthcoming arrest if police theory holds. A patrol wagon rushes by as the town awaits action.
Faux River August 9. At tonight's conference the chief of police presented District Attorney Knowlton with the police results since work began on the murder. Clues inside and outside the house were reviewed and the case submitted to the district attorney for consideration. Neither Knowlton nor others would discuss details. The marshal said inquiries should go to Knowlton. He would not comment.
At Fart River August 8 observers awaited police action as Detectives scoured the countryside and returned updates to City Marshal Hilliard. The marshal and Detective Seaver left the chief's office at 2 PM, signaling a possible development, while officers quietly departed to Wilbur House for a meal, leaving the crowd hopeful and unsettled.
Aug 8 district attorney Hosea M Knowlton Bristol county arrives after 5 19 train. He goes to Mellen House abides time to discuss case briefly. City Marshal Hilliard and State Detective Seaver rush with an oblong wrapped parcel amid questions of possible arrest.
Aug 8 report notes Bridget Sullivan remains inside the Borden residence with Lizzie and Emma Borden, John Morse, under guard while authorities hunt for a safe witness. Police plan ongoing cellar and wall searches, arguing the killer may still be inside, with bonds and magistrate options discussed but not pursued.

Fat River Aug 8. A Postman reports to Aldermen chairman John Beattie, noted for anti saloon raids and Blue laws revival, that Beattie has a promising theory on the mystery. He sought to impress police headquarters with his sole possible theory, while opponents doubt.
