A socialite abandons her husband and children to elope with a man she loves, shocking high society circles. The move draws attention from prominent families and raises questions about duty, reputation, and personal happiness in the city.
Rumor swirls that Mrs. John R. Perry, a leading Brookline and Boston social figure, eloped with Wilson S. Belches, a married man, taking a companion trip to Europe. Mrs Perry is married to John R. Perry, president of the Lewis F. Perry & Whitney Company, famed interior decorators. They resided at 19 Powell Street, Brookline.
A grim span ends in a string of deaths marked by a lethal incident in the city. Officials report multiple fatalities over a short period, prompting inspections and safety reviews across sites. Local authorities urge caution as investigations continue.
Reported deaths include Edward M KENNA 40 at 14 Custom House street killed by an elevator collapse under a building. Joseph PESORANTINI 9 of 190 Maverick street died after being crushed between trains on the Boston Rever e Beach Lynn line. Isadore COHN 25 marine at Charlestown Navy Yard fell overboard while on sentry duty. John MALONEY 6 of 288 West Third street South Boston drowned at the foot of E street. Harry HARVEY 10 of Shirley House Winthrop drowned in a Newton swimming pool.
Wilson S Belches son of John W Belches a retired stock broker worked at Hayden Stone Co 87 Milk St. He and his wife left Boston June 6 for London confessing in a cable that they could not live without each other. Mrs Perry abandoned husband and two children. formerly Alice Pratt of Brookline a debutante famed for beauty. Continued on Page 4-7.
Three spine fractures occurred within four hours in the city with two elevator incidents and a ladder fall. Edward McKenna, 40, of 14 Custom House Street, died instantly. James L. Connell, 53 Ottawa Street, Dorchester, and Arthur Bailey, 128 Harrison Avenue, were listed on the dangerous list at City Hospital.
McKenna died instantly at 4 45 yesterday when a lift cable parted and the elevator, dropping from the fourth floor, pinned him to the floor. W H Berry, proprietor, assisted by staff, freed the wagon and removed the wreckage. Medical Examiner Magrath examined the remains and ordered a section of the frayed cable turned over to police.

Nim Sing aged 29 and Hong Woon 24, both of New York City, appear in an accompanying list along with Charley Young 30 and Yee Wah 35 from Boston. The brief item records ages and home cities for four individuals.
A violent mob of about 500 people faced a feared Hep Sing Tong attack in Chinatown last night. A gang armed with revolvers and silver hatchets fired at will, killing three locals, fatally wounding three more, and seriously injuring four others before dispersing after five minutes.
Ringleaders mostly escaped with three captured after dramatic pursuits and traps as officers proved decisive. Two men arrested in Worcester last night identified as Charlie Yang and Yee Wah. Five years after a serious heart trouble worsened by grippe Dr. Crane remained frail. He preached in the morning and at the Common meeting with Vice-President Fairbanks, then spoke again in the evening. Illness intensified Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday, and he died around 3 PM with family nearby after a day of near-constant unconsciousness.
Thomas F. Maddock chief master at arms on the battleship Maine died in Fort Monroe Virginia hospital from injuries suffered in a quarrel Friday evening. His death follows a previous fatality tied to the same dispute with Fred.
Washington forecast notes fair weather for Boston and nearby areas with no clear temperature change. Saturday and Sunday show mostly fair with some showers in extreme northern portions, moderate temperatures and fresh westerly winds. Eastern New York similarly partially cloudy with lower temps in the southern part, and Sunday turning fair with fresh winds.
