Campaign Text Book Review of Democratic Push for Reform

A Democratic campaign text book will be issued mid August under national committee direction. It will compare administration acts, include the Mills tariff bill text and current law, and abstract speeches by prominent Democrats. It will claim more efficient work across land, patent, Indian, and pension offices, with tighter budgets under Cleveland. A Pennsylvania Republican, Rep. Yardley, accidentally shipped free trade papers instead of McKinley tariff talks, sparking protests. Senator Morgan advocates Indian police courts. Senator Platt is cautious about timing. Colonel Bates assigns 158 new letter carriers in New England to enforce the eight hour law, with totals by state listed. A reception includes a child naming himself Grover Cleveland Washington.
