Want Schools Adorned Regular Meeting of School Committee
A Dorchester school committee meeting on Mason street discussed securing $55,000 for a new primary school to replace Moulton Street. Fire location changes near schools were considered for pupil safety. Reports urged a grammar school site at Dorchester avenue Lower Mills. Several text book and curriculum changes were debated and deferred. An art embellishment plan for public schools was proposed, with trial in Bowdoin or Myrtle streets. The Rice Training School mixed status and district-line shifts were noted. Parade and prize drill dates for the school regiment were set for May 1892.
