Ex-President Bostwick Charges A Readable PDF Summary
A long critical report by ex-President Bostwick and former NY & New England railroad official Charles Howard is presented. The 1891 deficit of 128,173.66 contrasts with 1890’s 86,824.23 surplus, with fixed charges up, shipments up, and heavy bleeding to the New England Terminal Company and Eastern States line. Howard argues for management by Mellen and careful cost cuts, noting improvements and future earning potential amid revenue declines in coal and local routes.
