American troops invest the Armored Train Calumpit now serving as Aguinaldo's capital after the retreat from Malolos. The objective is to capture Calumpit and block the Filipino retreat. Wheaton's division moves to intercept, risking Aguinaldo shifting his base further north if blocked.
Mathew McCormick, 65, a McCormick brewery collector, was robbed in broad daylight on Perrin Street Roxbury. Harry Stanford and John Murphy are accused. McCormick carried about 160 dollars instead of his usual 2000 to 3000. Inspector Gaddis and Officer Keene intervened, Stafford fled, suspects captured and Bertillon measurements taken for identification. Stanford, 35, English, from New York, and Murphy, similar age, denied prior local records and await trial.
In Philadelphia on Callowhill street an explosion of seventy five gallons of benzol at Frank H Fleer & Co chews gum lab killed Walter Manwaring and Charles McKinley and critically injured Harry Randall. Affected nearby buildings suffered severe damage and over a score of residents were injured. Total loss estimated above $100000.
An executive session of the committee on cities approved a bill prohibiting future buildings over 100 feet tall in the state. The committee also reported leave to withdraw a bill to ban new structures within 1000 feet of the State House, as the other measure already covers this restriction.
Six year old Frank McCluskey of 139 Shawmut avenue fell from a wall on Castle Square yesterday afternoon. He was taken to City Hospital where trephining was performed. late last night he remained in critical condition.
A trench at Baldwin and Medford streets in Charlestown collapsed yesterday morning, burying 35 year old Michael Shea who died minutes later. Workmate William Quigley and another man Powers were rescued. Quigley walked home, Powers unharmed. Shea’s body was taken to Cobb's undertaking rooms for an inquest by Medical Examiner Morris.
General McArthur's division drove four miles toward Calumpit crossing the Bagbag River with six killed and 28 wounded led by the First South Dakota Regiment. Filipinos defended Calumpit strongly as American troops withdrew for a night rest before a final assault. The enemy destroyed a rail bridge span hampering transport.

A brief hearing in Superior Criminal Court addressed Thomas J. Scollans bail after his fugitive status was noted. Attorneys disputed whether the case appeared on the general February term list, arguing an oversight. prosecutors said it was specially assigned and scheduled on the short trial list. The matter was continued and will go to the Supreme Court.
