New York April 23 Cardinal O Connell home from Rome landed on American soil to receive a hearty welcome from clergy and laity of his diocese gathered to greet him. The cardinal pictured Europe as at the end of its resources whistling to keep up hope with conditions very very bad.
Washington April 23 Vice President Coolidge and several members of the Senate and House of Representatives were among about 600 guests awakened from beds when a fire alarm interrupted early morning at the New Willard Hotel. The blaze drove guests to safety as firemen battled flames and smoke in the lower floors amid social and public figures.
A Brooklyn nurse Miss Sarah Cochelaire will wed Albert P Schlafke in the clouds above Curtiss Field Long Island tomorrow afternoon.
