Republican caucus sets order of business for early adjournment
In Washington on April 23 Republicans in the Senate favored an early adjournment after the appropriation bills. A steering committee led by Sherman will decide what non appropriation items may be considered. They see little chance for the Pacific railroad funding, Nicaraguan Canal, bankruptcy, or statehood bills, with only the cheese bill and possibly the Peffer bond investigation likely to pass.
