Albany April 22 The Assembly approved the greater New York bill 78 to 69 despite mayors vetoes. The Senate had already passed it over Mayors Strong and Wurster. The measure goes to Governor Morton who is expected to sign it.
A report from Washington on April 22 claimed President Cleveland was injured after his carriage collided with a cable car near Woodley. Early details suggested a horse stumble caused the incident, but officials later indicated the story had no solid basis as the president rode home in another carriage after the horses were secured.

Rob Chambers a Black preacher was tied to a tree and shot to death by a mob at Cranberry North Carolina last night after allegedly attempting to chloroform and assault Mrs Wilson. The incident was reported from Knoxville Tennessee.
The fifth death linked to the Bessie Hale killing near Rowletts, Kentucky, reports Charlie Keeton, a key Bevill witness, was found killed with a crushed skull after trains and drinking in Munfordsville. Bevill, who fled life imprisonment, had earlier faced obstruction of justice and two other witness deaths.
