Seven vessels arrive as prices rise at fish pier
Seven ships reached the fish pier yesterday amid unusually strong demand. Haddock and cod prices rose with wholesale rates listing haddock four to five cents and steak cod eight to nine cents. Various vessels and fares are noted, including Crest, Stiletto, Gov. Foss, A. Perry, and Del Cabral among others. A fire in hold No. 3 of the Danish steamer Dania at Hoosac docks caused light damage from a hot bolt dropped by a worker. The Boston Shipbrokerage Co. reported sales of schooners Pochas set and Mineola and noted Susan N. Pickering’s cargo of hard pine lumber. The Virginian of the France-Canada line, sailing from St Nazaire, was intercepted off Race Point and ordered to New York for repairs.
