Money Paid to Prevent Legislation in Lexington
A Lexington town group paid 422.77 and an additional 500 to the State to secure an option against a state insane hospital site. The receipts show funds to reimburse the Commonwealth for surveying and option costs, with the option to be abandoned and the committee to report against a mental hospital location. The article notes the unusual practice of paying for legislative influence and questions why one option was forfeited while Lexington retrieved its funds.
