In El Paso on April 20 Diaz is ordered to resign by Friday afternoon to avert an attack on Juarez. The ultimatum represents Madero's final stance in the peace proposal as Mexican leaders visited Diaz's camp in the Sierra Madre foothills under a flag of truce.
A 50 mile gale with sleet and snow swept Cape Cod, cutting telegraph lines and isolating the region. The schooner Caroline Gray ran ashore near Wood End. keeper George H. Bickers and crew rescued six aboard after perilous waves and breaking hulls.
General Ma dero would consider delaying action on Juarez only if President Diaz resigned. Senor de la Barra was proposed as a possible successor by him.
Mayor Fitzgerald was notified that elementary school teachers rejected the school committee offer for salary increases. The committee proposed a range from 600 to 1080 dollars, but the teachers declined.

In North Stratford New Hampshire on April 20 a bold riverman leads a crew to break out a log drive. Logs surge from the bank as cant-dogs bite the wood and ash staves groan. The first leg of the 1911 drive moves into the rushing yellow flood with a mighty splash.
Foreman Frank Smart directs a 500 strong river crew as logs surge two feet high toward Browns Island booms. A previous jam near the Grand Trunk bridge tested their craft while Red the riverman narrowly escaped disaster breaking out a landing.
Galveston April 20 reports the War Department ordered 500 coffins sent from New York through this port to Texas points. No explanation for the shipment could be obtained here.

J K Dunbar farm employee and Anthony B Yerken tailor were arrested in Boston and Brockton for trying to extort fourteen thousand dollars from Daniel W Field, the Brockton boot man. They are charged with using mail to defraud and threaten violence. Police fear their dangerous character after recent Lynn shootings.
