Government Rail Commission Hears Arguments On Law Power
The committee heard Altogether the chairman and several speakers debate whether rebates violate law and if relief can be granted. Alden Speare and others warned of New England factory needs, while Boston exporters urged equal treatment for all classes and avoidance of harming local carriers. The commission indicated it would rely on railroads to interpret the law and focus on complaints rather than broad rulings.
