Boston railroad and steamboat men appeared before the Interstate Commerce Commission for a hearing on transportation issues. Various speakers voiced concerns as legislators consider policy and regulatory actions affecting vessels and routes.

Orrans Ontario sources say the British proposal may differ from Canadian plans and could be acceptable to Canadians.
Lieutenant John Danenhower famed for Arctic service was found dead in his Annapolis quarters at 10 AM with a bullet wound to the temple and a note directing his brother in Washington. Authorities cite recent Arctic return and a fear of court martial over the Constellation grounding as triggers, with connections to Robert Gatewood who had recently died by suicide.
Washington April 20 Special Dr Bland in his paper the Council Fire devotes eight columns to the Dawes land in severalty bill. He denounces it as despotism and Sopratios and reprints from the Boston Post an interview he calls anonymous. Dr Bland says the article was written by Herbert Welsh and pronounces the letter therein a tissue of falsehoods.
