Lynch Named Public Printer Candidate For Senate Support

James M. Lynch president of the International Typographical Union with HQ in Indianapolis is slated to be public printer. Senators Hughes and Martine and the New Jersey delegation urged President Wilson to select Cornelius Ford. The President consulted Simmons and Overman on William H. Osborne for commissioner of internal revenue, with approval expected for a Senate submission.

Recluse Charles A. Smith Dies in Lone Cabin

Charles A. Smith, 80, known as a recluse for a decade, died yesterday morning in his woodside cabin off Greenwood street Wakefield. Heart trouble caused his death. He lived alone and earned a small fortune from selling garden produce. His wife and a married daughter, Mrs. F. L. Harris, resided nearby.

Gas Poisoning Incident Strikes Webster Family

Four people were overcome by illuminating gas at the home of John Symkowski on 17 Poland Street in Webster. Mary Malonas, 82, is in critical condition and may not survive. Also present were Joseph Symkowski, 22, Bernice Symkowski, 11, and Jennie Symkowski, 8.

Absence of Ahearn Triggers Receiver for Lincoln Brothers

Frederick E. Ahearn, president of the Lincoln Brothers Company of Cohasset, vanished prompting Rockland Trust Company and Boylston National Bank to seek a receiver. A mortgage for 2500 backed the loan, and a 3500 note added creditor claims. William L. Barnard of Hingham was appointed receiver amid reports of no feed for eight horses and no funds to buy more.

Great Animal Man Is Dead

Carl Hagenbeck senior partner of Mendel's Menagerie and Tier Park at Stellingen Hamburg died today. Born in 1844 he took over the family business and created a vast European animal exhibition starting in 1876. The French government awarded him the Academy diploma in 1891 and he received several royal decorations.
