Hadley Tragedy as Mr and Mrs Gerry Die in Train Collision
Mr Thomas E Gerry 55 and Mrs Alice T Smith Gerry 43 of Hadley were killed when their car was struck by a Central Massachusetts train at the Middle street grade crossing. The crash occurred as they traveled from Northampton toward their Hadley home. The auto was hurled 75 feet and 20 more feet, both skulls fractured. Salem April 11 A barber Gerosa Mariotta 29 attacked Miss Jennie Langdell as she returned home from church slashing her head with a razor and was chased by Officer Begley. Langdell 66 collapsed dead at his door from heart failure after seeing his daughter badly injured. Miss Langdell, bleeding from several head wounds, remained unconscious for hours but is expected to recover. Mariotta was captured after a pursuit and charged with assault with intent to kill.
