Boston police patrolled Chinatown with a large force after news of another Tong war outbreak. Four Chinamen were killed yesterday in New York and Philadelphia. Seven plainclothes officers were assigned and residents report sleeping with guns at their sides.
Reports detail a wave of Tong gang violence from New York and Philadelphia after the Bow Kum murder. Wing Song dies by self harm amid investigations of potential Chinatown unrest. Shootings target Ong Leong Tong and Four Brothers factions. arrests and fatalities include Chung Fook and Chu Nong.
Jefferson County grand jury reported 38 indictments but did not indict Charles Spoonholtz of Warren Township. He had lived with two wives for 26 years after marrying both women about the same time. He told them he would support both and keep their arrangement peaceful. The two families lived in harmony until jealousy arose.
Fifteen men were killed when dynamite exploded early this afternoon at a Texco extension construction camp of the Santa Fe Railroad in Novite. Only three bodies identified due to severe mutilation.

The Interstate Commerce Commission rules Pullman sleeping car berths should not be charged equally for upper and lower beds. Differential pricing is ordered in several cases, and Chicago to Pacific routes see rate cuts. The ruling signals broader recalibration of rates deemed excessive. The Pullman Company plans to take the decision to court.
The commission ruled the current $12 Pullman rate from St Paul to the Pacific Coast is too high and ordered a reduction to $10. The upper berth rate drops from $12 to $8.50. A short night journey should not exceed $1.50 for a lower berth and $1.10 for an upper. The Fargo run 242 miles from St Paul at $2 is reduced accordingly. Upper berth from St Paul to Superior drops to $1.10 and from St Paul to Grand Forks to $1.50. Lower berth rates remain approved.
James P. Sweett, 21, of 84 Prince Street Somerville, attempted suicide at Scollay square station in the East Boston tunnel by swallowing sulpho napithol. He fell in agony, a bystander’s bottle rolled from his hand, an ambulance and stomach pump saved him, and he went home later after rapid recovery.
The ice carnival for the Sharon Sanatorium is indefinitely postponed due to the Boston Arena not being completed. A new date will be announced later.
Bridgeport report states Lorraine Clark a 14 year old freshman at the local high school is under treatment at a Brattleboro Vermont sanitarium for the effects of an initiation into a school sorority on February 8.
A girl testified she was forced to drink a concoction containing kerosene during initiation then fed macaroni boiled with soap and wrapped in a blanket. She fell ill days later and, with her father F. C. Clark a state legislator, sought Brattleboro medical help. The school officials will investigate the matter.
Mercy Hospital in Springfield reports the birth of a son to Mrs Minnie Amberg Spencer wife of Bertram G Spencer. Spencer known as a self confessed burglar and murderer of Miss Martha B Blackstone a Springfield schoolteacher was shot last week. Prayers of thanksgiving were offered across Springfield churches for his capture and end of two years of terror.
J C Mars lost control of a Curtiss biplane at about 75 feet and plunged into the infield of the aviation course, landing on a seven passenger touring car. Three women and two children rode in the car. the canopy top saved their lives with only one slightly injured.
The biplane smashed and Mars was trapped under wreckage but escaped with a bruised knee and a cut on the chin. In the car were Mrs Edward Ritter Miss Edna Ritter Louis Ritter and Mrs Wilmer Smith and child. Mrs Ritter had a shoulder cut. Mr Ritter was knocked down by the plane. Thousands watched as a gust of wind caused the crash ending Memphis first aviation meet. Mars shut off his engine as the plane swooped downward.
In East Boston Policeman Dennis Regan, known as Handsome Dennie, helps five year old Robert Dodge of 55 White Street return to his worried mother after wandering from her in the South End. City Hall police recalled Regan and notified the boy’s mother who greeted him with joy.
Levi S. Gould Middlesex county commissioner testified that Fresno Dan is the younger son of the late ex State Senator Daniel Russell. A three hour Melrose drive with Fresno Dan guiding Gould through changes since the Russell heir vanished 25 years ago supported the claim.
Fresno Dan escorted by two detectives and a lawyer arrived in Melrose after noon and visited the Gould home. The party then drove to Mt Vernon Hill and Greenwood cemetery where they observed a grave the claimant says is his mother. They met an attorney near the Russell lot before returning to the Mayors home and taking a 6:46 train for Boston. The episode followed an earlier interview with claimant Daniel Blake Russell at Mr Gould’s home.
Waryard Observatory records Halley's comet near the eastern horizon at 4 08 a m standard time this Tuesday with observers expected to see it improve about 12 to 15 minutes later.
Forecast notes fair conditions in Boston Monday with light variable winds and a temperature change. Tuesday brings increasing cloudiness and warmer air, with northwest to north winds in the west portion. In Pittsburg on April 10 Frank Skala editor and mission worker proclaimed willingness to die for Christianity. He was assassinated in a sensational shooting that killed him and wounded fellow church leader John Gay.
In Wood’s Run a gunman identified as Jan Raddowitch shot two men after leaving the church. Skala died from jaw and temple wounds while Gay was struck in the thumb and head and slain as the assassin flaunted his revolver amid fleeing worshippers. The attack followed a Sunday School appearance by Raddowitch.
Miss Beatrice Anita Baldwin seeks one third of the $20 million Baldwin estate as the daughter of Elias Jackson Baldwin known as Lucky Baldwin. The Brookline teen, age 17, through her attorneys, contests the will alongside other claims on the California turfman's fortune. She is the adopted daughter of Dr. William Turnbull and Lillian A. Ashley.
