On two major league fields today the Red Sox and Athletics lineup for the season opener as Umpire calls play ball. The two games are in the American League with the Nationals delaying their opener until Wednesday.
The Philadelphia Athletics host the Houston Red Sox in the season opener at the new Shibe Park with Ambie McConnell the first Red Sox batter. The New York Highlanders visit Philadelphia as part of a busy AL start while Chicago and Cleveland begin in Detroit and St. Louis.
Sunday game at Rocky Point ends 2 to 1 in favor of Boston Nationals over Providence Grays. Eighty eight amateur boxers compete in national championships opening here tonight. About $300000 in losses and $116700 in insurance were reported as flames, fanned by a northwest gale, consumed Oils paints and dynamite stored on site. Firefighters from Lenox, Pittsfield, Lee and Lenoxdale aided. dynamite and turpentine were suspected causes.
Police say Finnimore implicated by wife in Igast Milton burglary after Wesley Grant store shooting. His wife was examined in Quincy and confirmed suspicions, leading to a raid on John S. Odom's Steadman avenue residence. Finnimore, 24, from England, was found asleep and taken to Milton station. A second suspect is still at large.
