Hallifax reports a 60 year old woman Mrs Case from Charlotte Town P E I died after swallowing a power. Her husband found her in agony with severe bleeding and blue lips. She had been partially insane and recently sobered after a life of heavy drinking. Officials cite bad rum and grief as factors of her mental state.
New York April 11 stockholders of the Western Union Telegraph Company will meet to ratify the issue of 12000 shares of new stock to retire the dividend surplus. They will also consider issuing a 5 percent collateral trust bond to fund pledged securities worth several millions. If approved the company could save about 300000 dollars on funding.
