ST JOHN New Brunswick April 10 The steamer Taymouth Castle arrived from Bermuda with Captain Olsen and fourteen seamen rescued from the Norwegian bark Hallegerda after a ferocious April 6 hurricane in lat 36.5 N long 64.5 W. The Hallegerda of 1092 tons, from Mobile to Greenock with pitch pine, broke up five days at sea. one young seaman died. The rescue by the Taymouth Castle and a Portuguese steamer occurred at noon on Friday after the vessels located the waterlogged crew. The Hallegerda, a Pictou-built craft owned by Mr Reed of Tromsø, Norway, drifted helplessly, and the men, many missing possessions, were saved with aid from the Norwegian consul. The Taymouth Castle itself sustained damage including loss of the after wheel and a bridge section, carrying 148 tons of coal, insured.
