Against the Prohibitory Amendment Opinion of Massachusetts Youth Club
The Young Men's Democratic Club of Massachusetts opposes the prohibitory constitutional amendment. It argues prohibition belongs in statute not the constitution, favors local rather than statewide control, frames prohibition as coercive socialism, warns of public sentiment, and urges voters to reject the amendment at the April 22 ballot. It cites historical failure of 1869 prohibition and calls for preserving individual liberty while regulating liquor by law.
